Affected Areas: Over time, the natural volume of youthful skin begins to diminish as wrinkles and folds form. Juvederm is an FDA approved filler that can turn back the hands of time by restoring youthful volume to many areas of your face. It can be used in areas such as: Lips, nasal labial folds (smile lines), marionette lines (lower corners of the mouth) and smoker’s lines around the lips. Juvederm™ is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration to your skin.
How It Works: Ice is provided to help numb the area while using Lidocaine that is mixed with Juvederm to make sure you are comfortable during the procedure. Your healthcare professional will gently place Juvederm™ under the skin to provide a smooth, natural look and feel. The procedure takes about 15 minutes and can easily be fit into a lunch hour. After the injections are done, the treated area is gently massaged to ensure smoothness of the product placement. Juvederm ™ is offered in two formulations: Juvederm ™ Ultra for use in areas where subtle volume enhancement is required, and Juvederm ™ Ultra Plus is used in areas for correction of deeper folds and wrinkles.
Recovery: To avoid the risks of temporary redness or swelling, patients should avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours. Some patients experience injection-related reactions, including redness, pain, firming, swelling, bruising, or bumps. These are normally mild and diminish within 7 days.
